We had just boarded the plane to fly back to the states after our first trip to India and I saw Dean typing away on his laptop. I asked him what he was doing. His answer was, "I'm building a web site. Mom, we have to find a way to get a new bus for the school in Patna". When we got home, he sent the web site he had created to everyone he knew and within 8 weeks the money was raised and the bus was delivered to the school.
The previous bus they had was on it's last legs. These kids live in extreme poverty and without a bus they had no way to get to school because they lived so far away and their parents had no way to get them there. The new bus we purchased helped 125 kids in multiple grades get to school for more than three years.
We visited the school while we were there and met the kids personally. (These boys on the left were taking their finals and were concentrating so intently that they never even looked up as we walked by). A very basic school but the children are able to come and they are receiving the gift of education which is the foundation that allows them to grow, compete, and thrive.
Unfortunately earlier this year, thieves stole this new bus from the School in Patna. It was a crushing blow to a school struggling to make ends meet. The school has had to scrape up money to rent a bus so the kids can continue to attend the school.
So, the Just Let Me Learn Foundation doesn't want to just replace the stolen bus, we want to buy a larger bus so that even more kids will have the opportunity to receive the gift of education. $11,338 has been raised, $13,662 to go. (The last $5,000 received is insurance money from the bus that was stolen). And yes, this new bus will be insured also. Can you help?
